Notes from author
This build focuses on poking with the off hand while also being scary to engage up close. The ideal case would be to keep distance from your opponent, to poke with the butterfly horn, and try to set up a pursuers +darkbead/css combo. Two-handing the moonlight greatsword provides additional choices for a more aggressive approach, and can be used to bait certain responses from your opponent.
The spells are chosen to provide three threats:
1. Short range, high damage with dark bead.
2. Distraction spell (Pursuers) to set up CSS or dark beads. The damage is nice, but of secondary importance
3. Long range, high damage with CSS
These three spells allow for nice setups at either close or long range.
Gear Choice:
TCC would cut the number of pursuers down to only 1 cast, so using it might not be the best idea.
In order to have off-hand catalyst be a real threat, Dusk Crown and bellowing dragoncrest ring are used. BDCR can be dropped in favor another ring (i.e. wolf ring for poise), but will come at the cost of quite a bit of damage. Dropping the CoD for MotM will lead to an increase of only 145 hp due to the endurance increase needed for the extra weight.
The grass crest shield was dropped in order to have 200 more hp (allowed for endurance to be 26 rather than 36) and also to have the butterfly horn in the off hand. The off-hand spear provides a great combo with MLGS, as it pokes well and can punish people for trying to get too close. The lack of stamina regen can be managed with proper care or with some grass.
The body, gloves, and legs provide (at +10) one of the best defenses for no poise armor.
To counter the lack of defenses this build has, vit is taken to 50 while int stays at 45. MLGS scaling past 45 increases from 476 to 480 at 50 int, so the extra 92 hp from the last 5 vit is worth the little damage lost from the lower int.
