Axel Axton is the son of a headsman. At age 12, he was already executing his first criminal. For a while, Axel enjoyed decapitating the guilty, until one day he saw a man steal an apple from a food vendor on the street. Even though the man was homeless and hungry, Axel wanted his head. When he got it, the people called him a murderer and forced him to flee. When he stopped running, he found the Darkwraith Winston the Whipwraith in a Forest teeling him that to the Darkwraiths all are guilty.
