When mallow was young, he was a savage bandit wielding a battle axe and as he became more mature he began to adventure deeper into the darkness that dwelled. He came across an imprisoned blacksmith that was acquainted with the arts of magic, he mentored mallow until he became an avid student of magic. Impressed, the smith enchanted mallow's great club that he found in the dark depths of blighttown. Mallow became a battlemage from the help of his tutor and he was ready for anything the world would throw at him.
