Advanced players only. Devastating PvP build to anyone unfamiliar with it.
It would take too long to explain every little part of this; it's a very specific 1-on-1 PvP strategy.
The opponent is baited into counter-clockwise locked-on circling with raised shields; you unlock your view from him when the distance is appropriate, and perform a sprinting R1. The opponent should continue circling with raised shield to avoid the seemingly obvious attack, but the curved tip of the Gravelord Sword will rise just at the end of your attack animation, and sting the opponent in the back, behind his shield, for serious damage.
Many times, the opponent doesn't realize what's happening; he considers it to be a glitch, or lag-related, and continues \\"safely\\" circling, with raised shield, while locked onto you and thinking of what just happened. You might sting him enough times to kill him, although this is unlikely. Most people catch on after the second sting.
Stings can be followed up, because you are in such close proximity to the opponent, by many things. If the opponent doesn't have very much poise, you might follow up with a staggering kick from the thorny boots, and an R2 thrust with your Gravelord Sword. Low-poise builds will normally die from that kind of assault. You can also follow up with a damaging roll, and rising R1.
This takes quite a bit of practice. You don't HAVE to unlock your view from the opponent in order for this to work, but the lock-on system is no substitute for precise aim.
This is still somewhat of a work in progress, but I'm getting relatively good results from it, especially against lightly armored players. Going up against full Havel's gear doesn't normally work out too well, but a couple stings might still land, for what good they'll do.
