Highest equip-able Magic defense along with casting the strong magic Shield and Great Magic Barrier provide plenty protection from those pesky Mages.
It is probably favorable to cast these one at a time rather than stacking since the cast time is long and the limit of casts.
I was going for a dex weapon so as to hit these Witches as fast as possible, although great flexibility is granted here since the goal is to block all magic. There fore the weapon of choice is also up to the player's discretion.
