The point of this build is to be golden. More gold is better, but none of that bullshit brass, yellow paladin crap or xanthous vomit and especially not lautrec's junk. That's not even close to gold-colored!
Other items that work (while not optimized stats-wise) Dragonslayer spear, channeler's spear, giant blacksmith hammer, avelyn, darkmoon bow, and pickaxe.
Smough's hammer works but is too distinctive, same with solaire's shield; giant's halberd also works but makes the build too similar to a normal giant sentinel; claymore works too, but do you really want to be the guy to use the most op weapon in the game?
If you want to modify your faith builds to this, both sunlight blade and the lightning miracles are acceptable.
If you want to get extra fancy, cast replenishment and sunlight spear while popping gwyn's soul.
All in the name of Maximum Gold Factor!
If using my build exactly, fight aggressively. While the shield is good, the glgs range is quite small so it cannot usually catch enemies if defensive. So go out and sprint attack and try to dead angle them. Mid roll should allow you to avoid the majority of attacks and the rest can be tanked on the shield. The build is quite tanky and works best by trading hits. For most average poise enemies, the second hit will be what staggers and if they can't escape, it's possible to do upwards of 1400 damage with the full combo. Greatswords will out stun you, but your slashes are faster so just quickly block and swing.
Flip and fast rollers will be trouble, but two handing (one hand sometimes works too) and manually aiming will allow you to clip them. If they are too fast and only fish for backstabs, take out the parrying dagger and attempt to damage them as they backstab to negate it. High-poise spear users will be nasty to deal with, and the only option that's worked so far has been to sprint after them until a backstab happens.
