Throughout the life of DS1, I always tried creating pure casters, that is, characters who only use spells as a form of attack. While I tried, I always failed, because there was some fundamental issue which made me displeased with the build
Then came DS2, and, I have to say, I am so glad that there is so much support for casters. My main and favourite build is a pure caster and she plays amazingly.
However... despite being distracted by the glorifying buff that casters have gotten., I can't help but still think about how much of a failure DS1 casters always are..
I'm mainly a PVPer, but seeing as I don't mule, and I tend to do a lot of coop, I try and make all of my builds viable in PVP and PVE.
This limits me in terms of stat development because imho builds should be kept at the absolute lowest they can, ad even 125 is beginning to branch off a little high. I wouldn't go any higher
This setup here seems to be the best one I've been able to achieve. Very annoyingly, the only way of boosting cast speed is dex, 45 of it. While this isn't the first time I've tried using it on a caster, I always feel cheated because of how unuseful it is
But, I've gritted my teeth, because I've discovered that cast speed is extremely important and the build needs it at max.
I've tried using this to my advantage, and have decided to include a dex weapon as my 4th weapon (I typically always used a shield, either sanctus, grass crest or small leather)
The reason I've always frowned upon melee weapons in a build such as this is not because I feel they are tactically build, but because the challenge of the build is that it only uses spells
I'm happier with this build than I thought I would be, and I thought that I would share it with you all in case anbody else has had the same problems as me
TL;DR,
I've never had luck with a pure caster before. It turns out one of the main tools they need is 45 dex, so I've turned that to my advantage and have included bandit
