Artorias was one of Gwyn's four elite knights, and the knight that was sent to the crumbling Oolacile which was being overrun by the Abyss. He traversed the Abyss and did battle with the Father of the Abyss, Manus. He defeated Manus and freed Oolacile from the Abyss. Unfortunately, he did not return from his mission.
