Don't get hit!
Use stamina like health, blocking and dodging.
Remember the wombo combos of pursuers/soulmasses + Soul Spear!
Play honorably, but pull out the dark bead if they don't!
Remember to make sure they don't decide you're a douch, or they'll retaliate!
If they're ganking, fall back and either wait for help or use the black separation crystal.
If you don't happen to have the DLC, then play even more carefully!
One will find that fights are generally more fair using the red soapstone, but make sure to have the dark wood grain ring equipped when you're summoned in order to cartwheel away from asshats looking for the insta-kill (you won't survive a backstab, and are not likely to survive any spells or hits in general.
When you can, spam soul arrows, looking for an opportunity to strike.
Use the Channeler's Trident's 2H R2 to get even more damage, but make sure you're safe first.
Use the Channeler's Trident behind your shield to (more) safely poke.
If you happen to come upon a hacker, either use the black separation crystal, or use a weapon that applies bleed, as bleed deals damage based on their health.
