Notes from author
Makes for a fun playthrough, roleplaying as a mysterious ninja.
Damage:
Main source of damage will be the Uchigatana +15, boosted with items for bosses (or PvP) if necessary.
Armor:
Chester set is mainly for looking badass, and is gained by killing Chester in the DLC area next to the Artorias boss fight.
Rings:
Slumbering Dragoncrest ring to permanently be silent, and dark wood grain ring for the ninja flip. Exchange the dragon ring for something else if you need to, as the dragon ring is mainly for when you get invaded.
Spells:
Hidden body, combined with the dragon ring will make you silent and hard to detect. (another combination is fog ring + hush, although hidden body's effect is superior to the fog ring, thus it's preferred).
Chameleon, to set up a potential surprise attack against an invader.
Dark fog, because nothing is more badass than a ninja disappearing in a cloud of black smoke.
Tactics in PvE:
Be good at dodging. Or if you're not good at dodging, this build is a perfect opportunity to practice!
Tactics against invaders:
Use a combination of your spells to set up a sneak attack. Once you've engaged in combat, use your preferred melee tactics to beat them.
Tactics when invading someone else:
It will be hard to go undetected, so you might want to swap out some spells. Homing soulmass is not a bad choice, as you can cast it and then rush in close to your target and start slicing and dicing.
Stats and starting class:
This build allows you some freedom in placing your stats. here's a short summary of the class/stat choices.
Sorcerer class, because resistance/faith start very low and they are the only stats we don't need to raise.
Vitality, can go as high or low as you want.
Attunement 16, for 4 spell slots
endurance 27, for 24.9% load with chester set. adjust this if you use different armor.
Strength 14, needed for katana.
Dexterity 40, max katana damage
Intelligence 18, to be able to use dark fog and other spells.
