Get dragon form on. Start an invasion/duel by 2 handing Havel's greatshield and using the buff. Slap a lightning resin on the warpick if you feel like it. Switch back to the weapons you were using and continue the fight.
With the Avelyn, Dragon breath and Warpick, you can cover many options if they ever get knocked down by your roar. If they roll in, you can counter hit them with the Warpick (if you break their poise you can stunlock them for at least on more r1 or possibly an r2 before they toggle escape), if they roll away you can shoot the Avelyn to hit for roughly 400-500 damage (Not including possible Leo counter) and if they do anything else you can apply pressure by retreating with dragon breath.
Landing a counter is easy too, because if they start r1 spamming at you, you will have enough poise to trade most of the time or you can switch to the shield and dark silver tracer and parry them.
You can swap out the weapons but these are the weapons/strats I've had the most success with.
