This build is a bit more tricky than most other mages. I am currently making this build, and the main thing here is that this build (Specifically in PvP) can prevent backstabs significantly because of the Helm of Thorns. But otherwise, I find this to be a decent hybrid mage. You can swap the spells to your liking, but I like the ones in here, like fire tempest and black flame with homing crystal soulmass and Dark Bead. So, do what you will.
But I think the fashion souls is pretty cool as well. I've always liked the Black Cleric set.
