It has what I think is the most important breakpoint (36, tank 1h greatsword attack), great def, high HP, good movility (fast roll), melee and range attack and very high damage due to leo ring. You only wear 1 heavy armor piece, so with gcs and green blossom your stamina fills in about 2 sec.
